Having realised at an early age that art would always be her career, Louise Macaulay has been passionately involved with a broad spectrum of visual art all her life. She won the first of many poster design competitions at the age of seven and at fifteen she opened up her own sign business. At eighteen, Louise decided to pursue more skills such as graphic design, illustration and painting at Ringling College of Art in Sarasota, Florida. After obtaining a diploma in graphic design, she went on to work as a professional artist and was employed in illustration, graphic design and sign writing globally.
After her arrival to Australia, she was able to commit herself to being a full-time visual artist. For four years she lived on a block of land, out on a farm where the vast countryside became the inspiration for her paintings. In 2010, she became absorbed with watercolour.
In 2010 and 2011 she painted murals in Sri Lanka. She found Sri Lanka so inspiring that she embarked on a new project, redesigning and beautifying lamps.
I embrace change therefore my mediums, themes and subjects are always diversified. Nature will always be my favourite subject.
